The Type of People You Must Recruit if You Want to Succeed in Network Marketing
There is an ironic but simple truth and that is, "Network Marketing is an industry of marketing and promotion, pursued by people who have no idea how to market or promote."
Most networkers have spent their working lives as employees and have no business experience at all. They get started in network marketing and have no idea where to start. Many upline leaders will tell their new recruits to make a list of 100 warm market prospects and pitch your business to them. Or the upline will tell the recruit to buy a list of opportunity seeker leads and start calling them. This keeps a new recruit busy for the first week or two. After that your upline knows your emotional enthusiasm and "pumped-up" state will fade and the chances of you doing anything will drop to 30% or probably less.
This is like a shotgun approach and occasionally you may run into someone who is interested in what you are offering. A smarter way of doing business and the way most successful businesses is to go after your target market. Your target market are people who have already using or consuming what you are selling. In the case of network marketing your target market is people who are in network marketing or who have been in the past.
Business opportunity seekers are not your target market. Opportunity seekers are just that, seekers. Your friends and family are are not your target market unless they are already network marketers. What you want are opportunity buyers. Would you try to sell cigars to someone who does not already buy and smoke cigars? It's much easier to sell something to someone who already buys what you are selling than it is to convince someone to buy something. So to be successful at network marketing go after your target market, people who do network marketing.
