Starting My Own Business – Now?
Gee, here I am, in my 50’s and I have this overwhelming urge to start my own business. I have a good job, loving wife, and am quite frankly bored to death! My job offers no challenges and little rewards. My wife and I can ill afford to do anything, as my pay is set, and my bills are large. So with all of these years of corporate experience I felt confident enough to go out on my own, is these times! What caused an otherwise rational man to do such at thing? Here are my reasons:
- I discovered who I am ! I know my strengths and weaknesses, and played to the strengths that I know I have. I know how to sell, organize and execute on plans. I really don’t care what others think, this is for me!
- Working for the Man 50, sometimes 60 hours a week, and still getting the same paycheck and the really nice 4.0% raise each year, thank you may I have another? So, why not put all that energy into my business, where I control my paycheck and my hours? Sounded very logical after all these years!
- Start and Finish when I want Ok, I am no spring chicken, and some mornings I want to watch the news, not the clock to get ready to go to work. Also, I like to be home early to enjoy dinner with my wife. Working from home, in my own business, I get the best of both worlds, besides, I no longer have to fight the crazy traffic out there!
- Stereotypes Some nay slayers think just because you work from home, you are a slob or lazy. I am neither! Although I have the ability to work only a few hours daily, by business as Canyon Leasing Broker, means I am on call for my customers 24/7. Now, they are not that needy, but they know when then call, I reply! That is a REAL secret to success !
- Happier, brighter, richer So, being “the man” myself has really improved my outlook on life. I am now making more money than before, my wife and I go places and do things together that we never had the chance to do before. And, I am truly happy.
It is the best time of my life. Yes, I took a chance on leaving corporate America, but, I left with no regrets and have never looked back. Do what is best your you, and the rest is easy!
